"One of the youngest Filmmakers in Kenya to Produce such a Feature to-date!"- Mymovies Africa

I am a film graduate from Kenyatta University, and one-half of a Writing & Directing Duo from Nairobi, known as: WANJU KASE. I am also the Co-Founder of DREAMHOUSE ENTERTAINMENT - an independent Film Production company from Kenya.

From the age of 17, in 2015, I have been Involved in various film productions around the country, but--

I don't think I set out to become a filmmaker.

I think I became fascinated by stories... and then equally fascinated by everything that happens around them.

How they're made.

Why some reach people while others disappear.

Why incredibly talented filmmakers struggle to find audiences.

And whether there's a better way of doing all this.

Over the last decade I've been fortunate enough to make films that have travelled across festivals, won awards, and connected me with incredible collaborators.

But somewhere along the way, I realized the biggest challenge facing African filmmakers isn't simply making great films.

It's building sustainable systems around them

​

I don't have all the answers.

In fact, most of the projects I work on begin with a question.

Can we make ambitious cinema independently?

Can marketing become education?

Can audiences become a community instead of customers?

Can African filmmakers build industries instead of waiting for one to appear?

​

If my work leaves anything behind, I hope it isn't just another film.

I hope it's an idea someone else can take further than I ever could.

PROJECTS

THE YARD – a Web Series that went ahead to win Best series at the acclaimed Zanzibar International Film Festival,

 

MARSHALL - a 2016 KALASHA-nominated Short Film, and THE CLEANSING – My debut Short Film as Film Director & as Dreamhouse Entertainment.

Further, in 2020, we premiered WHY U HATE, my debut Feature, (writer & director) which has gone on to win several awards, premiere Worldwide on MyMovies.Africa™ and several screenings throughout Nairobi and beyond.
